CONCRETE

Concrete, as an artificial stone, is the most important and widely used construction material that ensures the stability of our structures.

What is Concrete Made Of?

There are four main materials that must come together to form concrete:

  • Cement
  • Aggregate (sand, gravel, crushed stone)
  • Water
  • Additives (Chemical and Mineral)

As a result of chemical reactions between cement and water, the separate aggregate particles bond together to form concrete. One of these four main components, Chemical Additives, is commonly used. Additionally, though less frequently, other substances known as Mineral Additives can also be incorporated into concrete.

What are the Types of Concrete?

In parallel with the advancements in chemistry and materials science, it is possible to produce different types of concrete to meet the needs of the construction and concrete industries.

  • Self-Compacting Lightweight Concrete
  • Self-Compacting Fiber-Reinforced Concrete
  • Self-Compacting Concrete
  • High-Performance Concrete
  • Roller-Compacted Concrete
  • Reactive Powder Concrete
  • Shotcrete
  • Prestressed Concrete
  • Underwater Concrete
  • Colored Concrete
  • Lightweight Concrete
  • Fiber-Reinforced Concrete
